Breakthroughs!
The word breakthrough brings to mind struggles, impasses, and insurmountable odds. These are the pre-conditions one faces right before “an instance of achieving success in a particular sphere or activity, in other words, a breakthrough. Breakthroughs are areas in which we work hard to overcome; we work hard to achieve, to be successful, to be victorious. Later this year, the 2024 Olympics will be held in Paris, France. We will see athletics experience a breakthrough victory. Breakthroughs are good because when one measures them correctly, it is not about what one accomplishes per se but what one had to overcome to achieve that accomplishment.
- In 2024, my prayer is that we experience a breakthrough at the election polls in November where democracy wins, racial justice wins, women's reproductive rights win, and voting rights win.
- In 2024, my prayer is for the alumni club to experience a breakthrough in growing our membership and our treasury so that we can do more for our Alma Mater and the students.
- In 2024, my prayer is for Howard University to experience a breakthrough in continuing to be a leader among leaders as we help all people of color.
- In 2024, my prayer is that you experience the breakthrough that you seek in your personal and professional lives. My prayer is that whatever you desire to achieve is honest, pure, just, positive, and lovely.
The year is still young. The smell of a new year still fills our nostrils. The ink on the paper where we wrote our New Year Resolutions is still wet. The breakthroughs we seek are still possible. So let us go back and first break what’s holding us back so that we can experience the “through” of a breakthrough.
