A Bison Prayer for Finishing Strong
Dear heavenly father, let us finish the school year strong. As a runner, running through the tape, let us stick out our chest and kick as we crossed the finish line. Give us the strength, energy, and ability to finish with flying colors. Lord, let the wind be at our backs. Help us not to be weary in well doing. For in due season, we shall reap if we do not lose heart. We are pressing on, reaching forward, not looking backward, as we press toward the goal for the prize of a successful year. We thank you in advance for how you are going to bless our socks off. Bless our new Howard graduates and their families. Bless the President, Trustees, Administrators, staff, faculty, students, and Alumni of Howard University.
Bless Howard University. Reared against the eastern sky, Proudly there on Hilltop high. Far above the lake so blue, stands old Howard firm and true. There she stands for truth and right. Sending forth her rays of light. Clad in robes of majesty, O Howard, we sing of thee Lord; please heal our sick and shut-in. Lord, bless our club members, club officers, HUAA, Department of Alumni Relations, our annual meeting, the DC HBCU Alliance 5K/2k race, and our annual red, white, and bleed blue cookout. We offer up this prayer to our sovereign God. Amen
