Finally, the classes of 1971 , 1972 and 1973 were able to celebrate their reunions along with the class of 2023! What a WONDERFUL time we experienced at the MECCA, the Marriott Marquis, the Marriott Renaissance Hotel and the Verizon Center. Thank You to ALL of the staff at H.U. that were involved in planning this event. Our activities began on Thursday May 11 with a tour of the campus followed by a reception at the Marriott Marquis. On Friday, May 12, we attended a Welcome Back Breakfast, Reunion Luncheon and Soiree. On Saturday, May 13, that 6:45 am bus ride to the Verizon Center was challenging, but being the hardy souls that Baby Boomers are, we made it a fun and graceful ride. Commencement Convocation could not have been more exciting and rewarding. Not only did we have an opportunity to walk as alumni, but we were honored to witness President Wayne A. I. Fredrick’s final commencement address and to have President Joseph R. Biden as our commencement speaker. The commencement was followed by a luncheon at the Blackburn Center. We danced the night away that evening at the Class Reunion Gala and enjoyed a Golden Reunion Farewell Breakfast on Sunday May 14. What a wonderful farewell and Mother’s Day gift.
I must not be remiss in mentioning that the class of 1971 raised $1,377,710.09. The class of 1972 raised $1,054,598.82 and the class of 1973 raised $2,014,874.84 for a TOTAL OF $4,447.183.75.
